The city of Osogbo was yesterday agog as the ancient city witnessed the grand opening of the Constituency Relations Office of Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency.
The office complex, built by Hon. Olubukola Oyewo, the member representing the Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was commissioned by Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The commissioning also witnessed the presentation of letter of appointments to 40 legislative aides that will assist in the effective discharge of his legislative duties, presentation of scholarship prize award to winners of Bukoy Essay and Oratory Contest for tertiary institution students, and the official inauguration of the BUKOY Foundation.
While speaking with newsmen, the lawmaker affirmed that the essay and oratory contest was to prepare the students for governance and to improve their educational standard.
As to why he founded BUKOY Foundation, he iterated that " the foundation will develop micro-credit programmes for artisans and traders, while the constituency office will not only serve as the centre for gathering ideas to move the constituency forward but also a vocational training centre for various entrepreneurial skills for youths"
In his remarks, Hon. Oyewo appreciates all persons who graced the occasion, and seek for more support of his constituents towards a successful administration.

Oyewo Moves Motion on Flooding; House of Reps Mandates NEMA to Provide Relief Materials to Victims
The House of Representatives has urged the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, to provide relief materials for the communities affected by recent devastated flooding in Osogbo Federal Constituency in the State of Osun.
In a motion moved on the floor of the House of Representatives by Hon. Bukola Oyewo, who represents Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency in which he called the attention of the House to the negative impact of the flood on the lives and economic activities of the people of the area, that has led to decline in agricultural production and other water- borne diseases"
The House of Representatives also urged the Federal Ministries of Water Resources and Environment, and Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority to urgently visit the affected communities for an on-the-spot assessment of the effect of the menace and assess the possibly of constructing water channels to prevent further flooding. The House however mandated the House Committees on Environment, Emergency and Disaster Preparedness, Ecology Fund and Water Resources to visit the affected areas to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the flooding for the purposes of appropriating funds in the 2020 budget estimates to address the problem.
Recall that the challenge of flooding in Osogbo federal constituency was enormous and the need for support of the Federal Government in finding a lasting solution to the menace has become imperative as many victims have been rendered homeless, apart from losing their sources of livelihood.

"Be resolute and Steadfast in Pursuit of Peace and Unity"- Bukoy urges Nigerians on Independence Anniversary
The Member of the House of representatives representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Bukola Oyewo has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and resolute in the pursuit of peace, unity among all citizens of the country.
The lawmaker who made the appeal in his message on the 59th anniversary of the nation’s independence, also reiterated his commitment to his promises to ensure his constituents are given the real dividends of democracy.
While congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), the Governor of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola and all Nigerians especially his constituents on the anniversary, he extolled the sacrifices of the founding fathers of the nation “whose sweat and contributions paved the way for the country’s achievement of independence which we celebrate today”
Hon. Bukola Oyewo further commended the fighting spirit of the founding fathers, fallen heroes and heroines, the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their efforts to preserve the unity and sustain our co.existence of the country.
“My gratitude also goes to the good people of Osun State – our amiable elders and leaders, public and civil servants, the artisans, members of the various professional bodies, market men and women for your unswerving support to the government of the state of Osun”, the lawmaker added.
